FAQs
Can I visit or browse at the greenhouse?
No, at this time you cannot visit or browse our greenhouse. Unfortunately our facilities are not set up for in-person shopping and often our staff are off-site at landscaping and planting jobs.
How long before my order will be ready?
A pre-order is typically ready by the end of May, possibly early June, depending on the species and on the spring weather. Our plants overwinter outside and we let them follow their natural growing times, which for some are later spring. We don’t use fertilizer to force early or rapid above ground growth. This is so they are adapted and more resilient to the natural conditions they will face once planted.
We attempt to fill and arrange pickup for our in-season orders within 1-3 days of the order being paid for. If it is urgent we will do our best to fill it sooner, but it may incur a rush order surcharge. We appreciate your patience during our busy times, as we are a small (but dedicated!) operation.
How do I order plants from you?
- Send an email to sales@nativeplantsource.com with what you want to buy. Please include the size (4″ pot or one-gallon pot) and the quantity. If you don’t see a specific native plant you are looking for on our stock list, ask anyway…we sometimes have limited quantities or can recommend a substitute we do have.
- An invoice is then created and sent to you with payment instructions. You can pay by e-transfer (preferred) or if you want to use a credit card, a link to our Square payment processing account is sent to you.
- Once payment has been received and your order is ready, an email is sent with the self-serve pickup instructions for either the greenhouse gate near Breslau or a location in north Waterloo (to be provided).
There is snow on the ground…can I still order?
Yes! You can place a ‘pre-order’ between February 1 and May 15. A 50% deposit is made, with the remainder due when your plants are ready for pick up. Orders are filled in the order in which they are received, so pre orders are filled first in any cases of limited quantities.
